Bursaries & Scholarships
New London College offers bursaries and scholarships to full-time students. We recognise and reward students with the potential to reach the highest standards in education and careers. We aim to nurture talent and to develop each student's full potential both inside and outside the classroom. We do hope our scholarship and bursary schemes will encourage you to consider NLC for your children.
Scholarship examinations, applications and interviews help us to identify pupils with outstanding ability, and to give them access to education at NLC regardless of means.
We also offer means tested bursaries to the parents of boys and girls who are not scholarship candidates. There is a limited number of fully funded places.
Fee reductions are from Tuition Fees only, but excludes examination fees and extras.
FAQ's
How much is a scholarship worth?
In line with most schools, we concentrate on directing funds where need is greatest, so our scholarships carry a nominal fee reduction of 10% for an Academic scholarship and 5% for all other awards.
Can my child apply for more than one scholarship?
It is possible to apply for more than one scholarship, but the aggregate value of any scholarship(s) awarded will not exceed 10%.
What if we still cannot afford education at NLC?
You may apply for further means-tested fee assistance, which in cases of proven need, could be up to 100%. You will need to complete a financial circumstances form.
How many scholarships does NLC offer?
We do not set a limit on the number of awards we may make from the funds available. We aim to set a consistent standard so that the quality of candidates and level of financial support required determines the number of awards made in any year.
What about on-going performance?
Scholarships and exhibitions are subject to annual review and may be varied or withdrawn dependent upon the award holder’s continuing good performance and behaviour.
Is it necessary to re-apply annually for bursary funding?
Yes, we review offers of support each summer. We may vary funding upwards, or downwards, depending on parental circumstances. The Bursary circulates the review form to all families in receipt of a bursary during the spring term. You must complete and return the form by the advised deadline.
Other sources of bursary assistance
A number of educational and charitable trusts provide assistance with tuition fees. These trusts generally assist children who are already attending a fee-paying school and who, owing to a change of circumstances, may be unable to remain. We encourage parents to apply for support where it is felt a good case can be made. Please ask the Bursary for further information.
