A Level
At New London College, our aim for A Level students is to obtain a place at a top UK university on completion of their A level programme with us. To ensure this, we setup an individual learning plan for each student based on their ability and monitor their progress continuously. The class size for AS and A2 Level subjects rarely exceeds 10-12 students to make sure that the teachers can pay individual attention to each student.
Traditionally, the AS level (typically 4 subjects) is studied in the first year and the A2 (typically 3 subjects) in the second year. At NLC, we offer Two year Standard and a One year Intensive mode study options at A Level. Students who have had some prior knowledge of a subject or wish to retake may enrol on our Intensive One year or Fast Track modes
We provide expert advice to ensure that students choose the correct combination of subjects to enable them to meet the requirements of universities as well as match students to those subjects in which they have ability and interest.
AS students on Standard Mode receive 7 hours of teaching per subject per week, though if there are fewer than three students per subject, this is reduced to 4 hours per week. A2 students will receive the same hour allocation, but will also receive an additional two hours per subject per week to cover AS resit, if required. Students on Intensive and Fast Track Modes receive 9/10 hours of teaching per subject per week.
Students should expect to participate in lessons from 8:30am to 4pm, which includes a one-hour lunch break.
