Secondary Education @ NLC
New London College's desire to provide pupils with strong academic foundations which will enable them to achieve outstanding examination results, required to achieve place in their desired course at a top University, has led to the launch of a specialist Secondary Education division that specializes in pre-university education at GCSE and A Level.
At NLC, we provide expert advice to ensure that students choose the correct combination of subjects to enable them to meet the requirements of universities as well as match students to those subjects in which they have ability and interest.
The college is fully co-educational and considers its primary strength to be its small size, coupled with its friendly and caring student-centred approach. With our small class sizes, each student participates fully in each lesson thereby enabling tutors to engage directly with each individual.
The teaching style aims to be positive, encouraging and sympathetic to the challenges which students encounter. We are committed to helping each of our students to achieve the very best academic standards. This is done through rigorous, but informal teaching, frequent tests with in-depth feedback and by using expert subject teachers.
Our teaching is focused on examination success. We teach the information students need, in the form they need it and do not overload them with unnecessary information. Students are made to practice a range of past paper questions by applying facts, concepts and techniques. Detailed feedback is provided, thereby allowing them to gain a clear perspective on the answer the examiner expects and the ways in which answers could be improved.
Subject teachers monitor the progress of each student very closely through their performance in homework and during lessons. The Principal and Vice Principal follow the progress of all of the students and hold regular meetings with the teachers and senior staff to consider the needs of each student. Regular feedback is provided to Parents to enable them to keep track of their Child’s performance and progress.
