Introduction

The Computerised Accounts qualification is designed for those wanting to enter or progress in the field of Computerised Accounts. They can help learners to demonstrate competence in the practical use of computerised accounts software to produce accurate, professional and well presented accounts employing an appropriate range of accounting activities.

Course Aims

At Level 3 the aim of the qualification is to enable learners to carry out everyday operational parts of computerised accounting, involving the interpretation and processing of both routine and non-routine transactions, together with the production of accounting reports such as profit and loss accounts and balance sheets.

The qualification aims to allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the accounting sector.

Course Market


At Level 3 the qualification is aimed at candidates who are competent users of accounting software and who are seeking to develop skills required by today’s business for the preparation and monitoring of financial data.

The course is aimed at candidates who work or want to work in job roles such as:

  • Accounting technician
  • Accounts/Finance clerk
  • Private practice accountant

Course Structure

Students are provided practical training on the Sage Accounting software.

There are five learning outcomes to this unit.

Know how to set up master data on a computerised accounts software package

Process accounting transactions on a computerised accounts software package

3

Understand how to process adjustments

4

Understand how to process period end adjustments

5

Select and print accounting reports for management purposes

Duration

The Course is for duration of 10 weeks, with one class of 3 hours duration per week.

Assessment

Level 3 Computerised Accounts - Externally set and marked test

This unit will be assessed by a 2 hour 30 minutes question paper, which will be externally marked. The examination paper will take the format of a number of practical tasks. All areas of the syllabus will be tested . Candidates will be permitted to use a calculator during the examination.

Assessments will be graded Pass or First Class Pass. Candidates who fail the examination receive feedback on the main areas for further development.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking the qualification. However, the candidates are expected to have the passed the Level-2 qualification in Computerised Accounts or equivalent.

There are no age limits attached to candidates undertaking the qualification unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment.

Exemptions

There are no Exemptions allowed for this qualification. Candidates are not allowed to enter for a qualification of the same type, content and level as that of a qualification they already hold.

Progression:

On completion of these qualifications candidates may progress into employment or to the following qualifications:

NLC is authorised by the Oracle University for the Workforce Development Program and provides training in Oracle Applications-Financial Module. Students interested in enhancing their career prospects in the Financial Software industry can consider enrolling on this course.
